| Celebrating achievement in the African fertilizer sector

During a challenging year, the African fertilizer market has proven to be resilient and responded to the global pandemic in a way that has helped to minimise the impact on the supply chain and access to fertilizers.

Alongside the Argus Africa Fertilizer Live - Virtual Conference, Argus are delighted to launch the first Africa Fertilizer Awards to recognise outstanding achievements and contributions to the sector and the people that work in it.

How it will work

  • After submission, nominations will be judged by our expert panel based on the criteria detailed below.
  • The judges will be looking for entries that showcase innovation, a creative flair and those businesses that think outside the box to bring solutions to the industry’s main challenges.
  • Argus will remain impartial and independent of any decisions.
  • The judging process will also be impartial with no payment by any organisation or outside individual.

Covid-19 Resilience Award

  • This award recognises companies or individuals that have responded to the global pandemic in a manner that has maintained or improved access and availability of fertilizers in tough circumstances.
  • Entries should showcase the impact of their activities during the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure continuity in customer experience, operational efficiency and competitive edge.

Supply Chain Partnerships Award - Sponsored by Ma'aden

  • This award recognises companies or individuals that can demonstrate they have built meaningful and successful partnerships in the fertilizer supply chain to deliver efficiencies, overcome logistical or financial challenges.
  • Entries should demonstrate examples of how the partnership has strengthened fertilizer supply chains. Entries are welcome from public or private sector as well as local, national and regional partnerships.
  • Judges are looking for examples of collaborations in the fertilizer sector that can demonstrate a positive impact in any of the links in the supply chain

Agro-dealer and Farmer Outreach Award - Sponsored by Evergrow

  • This award recognises companies or individuals that have shown commitment to engage with agro-dealers and farmers to improve access, affordability and use of fertilizers through outreach program, education or collaboration.
  • Entries should demonstrate how their initiatives have had a positive sustainable impact on farmers’ productivity and livelihoods.
  • Judges are looking for examples of effective engagement with agro-dealers and/or farmers.

Tech Innovation in Agriculture Award - Sponsored by United Fertilizers Company Limited

  • This award recognises technology in its broadest sense, whether that be in the context of fertilizer use, soil health, agri-inputs, communications, transportation or any other technology that adds value to the fertilizer industry and the people that work in it.
  • Entries should demonstrate how their solution has tackled the unique and complex challenges in African agriculture.
  • Judges are looking for unique examples of digital innovation that have had a positive impact on agricultural productivity in Africa.

Women Entrepreneurial Inspiration Award - Sponsored by OCP Africa

  • This award recognises women who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and driven positive change in agribusiness.
  • Entries should demonstrate originality and innovation in their work and detail the impact of their activities.
  • Judges are looking for inspiring entries from women who have added value to the fertilizer industry and the people that work in it.

Covid-19 Resilience Award

  • This award recognises companies or individuals that have responded to the global pandemic in a manner that has maintained or improved access and availability of fertilizers in tough circumstances.
