How does the Argus RVO work and what is it?
What is the RVO? Put simply, the RVO is the cost of complying with the Renewable Fuel Standard. Argus publishes this value on a per-gallon basis: the cost of compliance for a single gallon of gasoline or diesel. The Argus RVO calculation assumes that the obligated party has achieved compliance by purchasing the requisite number of RINs in that day’s spot market.
The Argus RVO is calculated by weighting Argus' RIN assessments for the named compliance year according to the EPA's final percentage requirements for the same compliance year after accounting for nesting of the RFS standards.
